Twins recall Cole Sands

Brent Headrick optioned to Triple-A St. Paul

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Cole Sands from Triple-A St. Paul.

Sands appeared in four games for the Saints during his most recent stint at St. Paul, pitching 5.1 shutout innings, with four hits allowed, one walk, 10 strikeouts, one save and a .200 opponent batting average. Over three stints with the Twins this season, Sands has gone 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA (14.0 IP, 7 ER), nine walks and 14 strikeouts in 10 relief appearances.

To make room for Sands on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned left-handed pitcher Brent Headrick to St. Paul. Headrick appeared in relief last night in Philadelphia, allowing two runs on four hits in 3.1 innings pitched, with two walks and five strikeouts, throwing 67 pitches.
