Colorado Rockies release pitchers Jake McGee and Bryan Shaw

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have released left-handed pitcher Jake McGee and right-handed pitcher Bryan Shaw.

  • McGee, 33, went 0-2 with a 4.35 ERA (41.1 IP, 20 ER), 11 walks and 35 strikeouts in 45 appearances for the Rockies in 2019 … in four seasons with the Rockies since 2016, went 4-11 with 19 saves, a 4.78 ERA (195.2 IP, 104 ER), 59 walks and 178 strikeouts in 225 appearances … was originally acquired by Colorado via trade with Tampa Bay, along with right-handed pitcher Germán Márquez, in exchange for outfielder Corey Dickerson and infielder Kevin Padlo, on Jan. 28, 2016 … signed a three-year contract with the Rockies as a Major League free agent on Dec. 15, 2017 … in 522 career appearances across 10 seasons with Tampa Bay (2010-15) and Colorado (2016-19), has gone 25-22 with 45 saves, a 3.64 ERA (455.1 IP, 184 ER), 131 walks and 497 strikeouts.
  • Shaw, 32, went 3-2 with one save, a 5.38 ERA (72.0 IP, 43 ER), 29 walks and 58 strikeouts in 70 appearances with the Rockies in 2019 … went 7-8 with one save, a 5.61 ERA (126.2 IP, 79 ER), 57 walks and 112 strikeouts in 131 appearances across two seasons with Colorado … was originally signed by the Rockies as a Major League free agent on Dec. 15, 2017 … in 606 career appearances across parts of nine seasons with Arizona (2011-12), Cleveland (2013-17) and Colorado (2018-19), has gone 30-36 with 12 saves, a 3.68 ERA (573.0 IP, 234 ER), 208 walks and 510 strikeouts.
