D-backs announce home opener festivities for this Friday at Chase Field

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks @LosDbacks) will open the home portion of the 2021 season with a special pregame ceremony to welcome back fans before the D-backs host the Cincinnati Reds this Friday at 6:40 p.m. at Chase Field.

Opening Day festivities include:

  • A tribute to frontline workers including doctors, nurses and staff from Banner Heath, Dignity Health, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Steward Health Care and AMR as well as Chevrolet’s Community MVPs
  • Ceremonial first pitch by Arizona Department of Health Services Director Dr. Cara M. Christ
  • Moment of silence for the late D-backs Vice President of Player Development Mike Bell
  • National anthem sung by Retired U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class Steven Powell
  • Flyover by four F-16s from the 310th Fighter Squadron from Luke Air Force Base at conclusion of the anthem

Gates to Chase Field will open at 5 p.m., when D-backs staff will hand out 5,000 clear tote bags, courtesy of Gila River Hotels & Casinos. The new clear bag policy can be found at dbacks.com/clear.
