D-backs and Honeywell team up to inspire youth, teachers and STEM education

PHOENIX – The Arizona Diamondbacks and Honeywell Aerospace are teaming up to inspire youth, teachers and STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) through a series of community-impact initiatives in a one-of-a-kind partnership through 2024.

•  Inspires STEM learning and robotics through a new monthly robotics exhibition series for year-round competitions at Arizona high schools.

•  Provide robotics teams the opportunity to practice and fine tune their skills prior to competitions with support from Honeywell engineers.

•  High school robotics teams will compete and earn grant funding by building a robot that will pitch a baseball at Chase Field…10 inaugural teams will be announced in September 2021 for the March 2022 competition at Chase Field…teams must apply during September at dbacks.com/robotics.

•  Free program which rewards fans age 15 & younger for attending games.

•  Members receive prizes including STEM-inspired fun and educational prizes for 2022.

•  STEM-inspired interactive components incorporated into the Kids Club kiosks.

•  Members receive one (1) free ticket to all Sunday home games.

•  Members may unlock special Kids Club digital badges by achieving specific goals (attending their first game, Father’s Day or Star Wars in 2022, for example).

•  60 teachers per year will receive $1,000 grants totaling $60,000 in this celebration of outstanding STEM educators.

•  The “MVT” awards recognize the best-of-the-best and acknowledge educators’ commitment to providing students with the foundation for successful STEM careers.

•  10 STEM teachers will be recognized each month prior to a D-backs home game.

•  Fans may nominate their favorite teacher at dbacks.com/mvt.

STEM Sundays Inspired by Honeywell

•  During Sunday home games, fans may visit interactive displays from Honeywell STEM experts that showcase Honeywell’s innovation and impact on the world around us, the importance of STEM education and STEM careers, and community STEM groups, including high school robotics teams. Throughout the season, STEM experts from a variety of fields and local science clubs will be on hand to engage with kids at the ballpark.
