D-backs recall Taylor Clarke and Joel Payamps from Triple-A Reno and place Yoshihisa Hirano on the 10-day injured list; optioned Jon Duplantier to Triple-A Reno following last night’s game

Clarke, 26, who will start tonight vs. Giants, is 4-3 with 1 save, a 5.46 ERA (38 ER in 62.2 IP), .275 opponent average, 48 strikeouts and 22 walks in 14 games (13 starts) for the D-backs this season. Over his last 3 starts for Arizona since July 24, Clarke has gone 2-0 with a 2.65 ERA (5 ER in 17.0 IP), .180 opponent average, 16 strikeouts and 3 walks, including holding lefties to a .161 average (5-for-31) with 7 strikeouts in that time.

In 8 starts for Reno in 2019, Clarke went 3-1 with a 6.63 ERA (27 ER in 36.2 IP), .289 opponent average, 28 strikeouts and 17 walks. He last pitched for the Aces on August 10 @ Oklahoma City, throwing 3.0 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit with 4 strikeouts.

Payamps, 25, will be making his Major League debut and will wear No. 36. He went 5-6 with a 3.51 ERA (30 ER in 77.0 IP), .259 opponent average, 65 strikeouts and 16 walks in 14 starts between Double-A Jackson and Reno. Prior to his last outing on August 12 @ Oklahoma City (6 ER in 4.1 IP), Payamps had an 8-game stretch from June 27-August 7 where he went 4-1 with a 2.02 ERA (11 ER in 49.0 IP) with 38 strikeouts.

A native of Santiago, Dominican Republic, the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder signed with the D-backs as a Minor League free agent on November 30, 2015. He has gone 41-43 with a 4.11 ERA (303 ER in 664.0 IP), 572 strikeouts and 203 walks in 144 games (118 starts) in parts of 8 Minor League seasons (2011-14, ’16-19). He originally signed by with the Rockies as a non-drafted free agent in 2010.

Hirano, 35, is 4-5 with 1 save, a 4.89 ERA (25 ER in 46.0 IP), .271 opponent average, 53 strikeouts and 21 walks in 55 games for the D-backs this season.

Duplantier, 25, is 1-1 with 1 save, a 4.33 ERA (13 ER in 27.0 IP), .260 opponent average, 26 strikeouts and 12 walks in 9 games (3 starts) for Arizona in 2019.
