Dodgers add Ian Gibaut

LOS ANGELES –The Los Angeles Dodgers added right-handed pitcher Ian Gibaut to the active roster and optioned left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl.  

Gibaut, 28, was claimed off waivers yesterday from the Cleveland Guardians. He appeared in one game for the Guardians, tossing a scoreless inning on June 27 against the Twins. In parts of four seasons with Tampa Bay (2019), Texas (2020-2021), Minnesota (2021) and Cleveland (2022), he is a combined 1-2 with a 5.19 ERA (20 ER/34.2 IP) and 34 strikeouts. He spent most of the season with Triple-A Columbus, going 2-0 with a 3.20 ERA (7 ER/19.2 IP) and three for five in save opportunities. In his minor league career, he is 20-13 with a 3.17 ERA and 38 saves with 349 strikeouts. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 11th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Tulane.

Bruihl, 25, returned last night and tossed 1.1 innings last night of scoreless baseball with a strikeout. In 18 games with the Dodgers, he is 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA (7 ER/17.2 IP) and 11 strikeouts. He is in his second season with the Dodgers, and he is a combined 1-2 with a 3.22 ERA (13 ER/36.1 IP) and 22 strikeouts in 39 combined games. He was originally signed by the Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent on July 15, 2017.
