Over 40 Notable Dodger Alumni in attendance for exciting weekend series against Pittsburgh
LOS ANGELES – Coming off their longest road trip of the year, the Dodgers return to Los Angeles for a six-game homestand against the National League leading Philadelphia Phillies and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Fans are in for an entertaining set of games against the Pennsylvania teams, highlighted by Alumni Weekend presented by Bank of America, three bobblehead promotions and Armenian Heritage Night. Tickets remain available for all six home games on Dodgers.com/Tickets.
The Dodgers look to avenge their season series against the Philadelphia Phillies as the homestand kicks off on Monday, August 5 with a 7:10 p.m. game. Fans who purchased a special ticket pack will take home an Armenian Heritage Night jersey ahead of Tuesday’s 7:10 p.m. contest. The Dodgers will get the crowd ready for Alumni Weekend during the final game of the series, which will feature the first of three bobblehead giveaways during the homestand. Fans will take home a Sandy Koufax bobblehead, presented by Spectrum. The southpaw Hall of Famer and four-time World Series champion is the only player in franchise history to pitch a perfect game for the organization, dating back to September 9, 1965 against the Chicago Cubs.
After an off day on Thursday, the Pittsburgh Pirates visit Chavez Ravine for Alumni Weekend, presented by Bank of America. The three-day celebration will bring together over 40 Dodger alumni to recognize and commemorate historic achievements within the organization. To begin the weekend, the Dodgers will induct Dusty Baker as the eighth Legend of Dodger Baseball, which recognizes key contributors to the organization’s longtime success on the field and with the fans. The first 40,000 fans in attendance to Friday’s 7:10 p.m. game will take home a commemorative Dusty Baker bobblehead, sponsored by Bank of America. Friday’s festivities will conclude with a drone show, presented by Bank of America, displaying some of the greatest moments in Dodger history.
The Dodgers will host an Alumni Weekend All Access event on Saturday ahead of the 6:10 p.m. matchup. Those who purchased a ticket will attend a meet and greet with former Dodger stars Orel Hershiser, Steve Sax, Eric Gagné, Andre Ethier, Manny Mota and Jaime Jarrín. They will also take home a vintage Dodger dugout jacket and bobbleheads and take in the night’s action in a catered premium suite. Fans wishing to purchase a ticket for this event can visit here for more details. Additionally, the Dodgers will honor Hall of Fame owner Walter F. O’Malley by inducting him to the Dodgers’ Ring of Honor. O’Malley becomes the 15th person to receive this grand distinction. The visionary led the charge to move the Dodgers out west back in 1958. The Alumni Grand Reunion will bring back former Dodger players from each decade of the team’s existence for the celebration.
Sunday’s matchup will be all about former Dodger outfielder and fan favorite Matt Kemp, with the first 40,000 fans in attendance receiving a Matt Kemp bobblehead, presented by Budweiser. Fans who purchase a Matt Kemp Day Experience will have the opportunity to attend a meet and greet with Kemp, connect with Manager Dave Roberts prior to the 1:10 p.m. game, take home Dusty Baker and Kemp bobbleheads and receive a concessions credit. The Viva Los Dodgers festival, presented by Budweiser and Spectrum, returns to Centerfield Plaza two hours ahead of first pitch. All fans can listen to music, participate in family-friendly activities, and hear an on-stage interview with a Dodger player. After the game, kids 12 and under can run the bases to cap off the six-game homestand.
Fans can continue to support the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) in-stadium by purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets, buying an item at the LADF Homebase Store, or getting a personalized ribbon board message at Dodgers.com/ribbonboards. Proceeds benefit LADF as it tackles the most pressing problems facing Los Angeles with a mission to improve education, health care, homelessness and social justice for all Angelenos.
