Dodgers name Jon Weisman vice president, communications

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers named Jon Weisman to the position of Vice President, Communications. Working closely with executive leadership, Weisman will drive external and internal communications strategies for all aspects of the organization, including an expanding number of consumer and fan-facing opportunities, beginning September 1. He will also oversee strategic planning and the daily operation of the Dodgers’ communications department in its work with the media and partners in and around baseball.

Weisman is returning for his second stint with the Dodgers, having served as Director, Digital and Print Content from 2013-17 for the club’s website and publications. Since founding the pioneering website Dodger Thoughts in 2002, Weisman has written two books about the team: 100 Things Dodgers Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die and _Brothers in Arms: Koufax, Kershaw, and the Dodgers’ Extraordinary Pitching Tradition. _

Most recently, Weisman spent the past six years as Vice President, Corporate Public Relations for Showtime Networks, Inc., where he fueled the strategic development and execution of media relations and internal and external communications for the company. Previously, Weisman spent seven years at Variety, where he was Senior Editor, and four years at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where he was Senior Writer/Editor, working on strategic planning sessions, speeches and press materials as well as funding proposals in support of the museum's capital and endowment campaign. He began his journalism career in 1986 and has written news, features, opinion and analysis for media outlets that include the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Daily News and ESPN.com. 

Weisman holds a B.A. in American Studies from Stanford University and an M.A. in English from Georgetown University. He is a native of Los Angeles, where he and his wife have raised their three children.
