LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers signed right-handed pitcher Shane Greene and added him to the 26-man roster and placed right-handed pitcher Evan Phillips on the injured list with a right quad strain. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated right-handed pitcher Conner Greene for assignment.

Greene, 32, joins the Dodgers after being released by the Braves on August 14. He was 0-1 with an 8.47 ERA (16 ER/17.0 IP) and 17 strikeouts in 19 games for the Braves this season. The 2019 American League All-Star had a banner season for the Tigers, going 22-for-25 in save opportunities and sporting a 1.18 ERA in 28 games for Detroit prior to being traded to the Braves on July 31, 2019 for minor leaguers Joey Wentz and Travis Demeritte. The Florida native has been in the Major Leagues for eight seasons with New York (2014), Detroit (2015-2019), Atlanta (2019-2021) and is a combined 23-29 with a 4.53 ERA (232 ER/461.0 IP) and 430 strikeouts in 332 games. He was originally drafted by the New York Yankees in the 15th round of the 2009 First Year Player Draft out of Daytona Beach Community College.

Phillips, 26, recorded the win last night, tossing 2.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits. On the year, he is 1-0 with a save and a 3.38 ERA (2 ER/5.1 IP) n two Major League games. He has spent parts of four seasons in the Major Leagues, going a combined 2-3 with a 7.13 ERA (47 ER/59.1 IP) and 71 strikeouts for Atlanta (2018), Baltimore (2018-2020), Tampa Bay (2021) and Los Angeles (2021). In his minor league career, he is 19-20 with a 3.76 ERA and 306 strikeouts in 187 games. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the 17th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of UNC Wilmington.
