Dustin Morse of the Minnesota Twins honored with the 2020 Robert O. Fishel Award

December 16th, 2020

Dustin Morse, Senior Director of Communications for the Minnesota Twins, has been named the recipient of the 2020 Robert O. Fishel Award for Public Relations Excellence, Major League Baseball announced today.

The Robert O. Fishel Award, named after the longtime baseball executive, goes to the “active, non-uniformed representative of Major League Baseball whose ethics, character, dedication, service, professionalism and humanitarianism best represent the standards propounded by Robert O. Fishel.” An executive with the Cleveland Indians, the St. Louis Browns, the New York Yankees and the American League Office, Fishel was the inaugural winner of the Award in 1981.

Morse just completed his 20th season in Major League Baseball, his 15th with the Twins and sixth in his current capacity. Responsible for the Club’s baseball and business communications efforts, Morse leads media, player and alumni relations, along with the Twins Hall of Fame committee; provides oversight of publications, day-to-day baseball information, photography and archives; and ensures cohesive messaging across all Twins external platforms. His collaboration with FOX Sports North resulted in a 2020 Midwest Regional Emmy for “The Pursuit: From Berlin to the Bigs.” A native of Lakeville, Minnesota, Morse began his career as an intern with the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and held roles with the Chicago Cubs, the Texas Rangers and the San Diego Padres before returning home with the Twins in 2006. He served as Team Netherlands’ press liaison for the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

Morse has established a mentorship program that has influenced a generation of future industry leaders. Under his guidance, former interns have flourished throughout professional sports, including current P.R. employees for the Twins, the Atlanta Braves, the Baltimore Orioles, the Cleveland Indians, the Detroit Tigers, the Seattle Mariners, the Tampa Bay Rays and MLB Network.

Morse and his wife, Meghann, have a daughter, Madison, and a son, Griffin.

Fishel Award nominees are submitted by the 30 Major League Clubs and league officials. The nominees are voted upon by active past winners and MLB officials.
