Former Major League catcher Dave Valle added to 2022 Bally Sports Southwest Texas Rangers broadcast team

Valle to serve as BSSW analyst for select Rangers games

Arlington, Texas--Former Major League catcher Dave Valle has joined the Texas Rangers broadcast team in 2022 and will serve as an analyst on a select number of Bally Sports Southwest home and road telecasts, it was announced today.

Valle has an extensive baseball broadcast career, working as an analyst for MLB Network’s programming since 2009. He also was an analyst on Seattle Mariners television and radio broadcasts from 1997-2008 and 2011-12. Valle is a 13-year MLB veteran with Seattle (1984-93), Boston (1994), Milwaukee (1994), and Texas (1995-96), serving as Ivan Rodriguez’ backup on the Rangers’ first A.L. West Division championship team in 1996.

Valle is co-founder and board chairman of Esperanza International, a non-profit community development organization founded in 1995 and based in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Esperanza International serves economically disadvantaged people through microfinance loans, health care, and education by facilitating community-based sustainable development programs.

C.J. Nitkowski will return for his sixth year as the primary analyst on Rangers’ telecasts with Tom Grieve and David Murphy also being in the booth for select home games this season. Grieve will be in his final season as a Rangers’ broadcaster since first assuming that role in 1995. Murphy first joined the broadcasts in 2019.

Dave Raymond returns for his sixth year as the primary play-by-play announcer on BSSW with Nitkowski assuming that role for a select number of 2022 telecasts. Emily Jones is back for her 16th season on Texas Rangers television games and will once again be the primary field reporter.

Bally Sports Southwest is the exclusive local television rightsholder for Texas Rangers baseball and is scheduled to carry approximately 159 regular season games in 2022. All Rangers broadcasts on Bally Sports Southwest are also available on the Bally Sports app. Bally Sports Southwest is available in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

Raymond, Nitkowski, and Jones will broadcast four Texas Rangers spring training games from Arizona on BSSW, beginning with the Tuesday, March 29 telecast against Cincinnati at Surprise Stadium at 3:05 p.m. CT. The regular season opener from Toronto is Friday, April 8 at 6:07 p.m. CT.
