MILWAUKEE – Earlier this season, the Milwaukee Brewers successfully launched “The Freshmen,” a multi-episode docuseries that was met with great excitement from fans. The series gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at life as a prospect and the journey toward earning a Major League spot, told through players’ individual stories. Episode four is available now and centers around Brewers top prospect, Jackson Chourio.

Filmed during 2023 Spring Training and at the start of his Double-A season, the episode digs into the life behind the emerging prospect. Since joining the Brewers organization in 2021 in the Dominican Summer League, the outfielder finds himself playing in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers. The consensus top prospect in the Brewers organization, Chourio is ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in Minor League Baseball by Baseball America and No. 2 overall by MLB Pipeline.

He was recently honored with the 2022 Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Chourio, 19, was one of nine overall and three outfield recipients of the award for 2022, which is given to the top defensive player at each position throughout all levels of Minor League Baseball.

The first three installments of the series were met with much enthusiasm, with fans learning more about prospects Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell, Brice Turang and Joey Wiemer. Filmed by the Brewers in-house production team, the intention of “The Freshmen” is to follow these prospects through their journey with additional episodes filmed during the regular season.
