MIAMI – In celebration of Global Running Day, the Miami Marlins and Miami Marlins Foundation have teamed with The University of Miami Health System (UHealth) to announce the Triple Play 5K, a family-friendly event where guests will run or walk around and inside loanDepot park while raising funds for great causes. The event will take place on Saturday, November 5, with check-in beginning at 7 a.m. and the race starting at 8:30 a.m. The Triple Play 5K presented by UHealth registration is now open at Marlins.com/TP5K.
The Triple Play 5K presented by UHealth accommodates runners, walkers, competitors, and event goers, providing a fun experience for all with proceeds benefiting UHealth research for brain health and mental wellness. Upon registering, guests can choose which of the following causes they would like their donation to benefit: ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) Research, Alzheimer’s Research, Mental Health, Parkinson’s Research, and Stroke Awareness.
“With shared excitement for the launch of the Triple Play 5K, the UHealth Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences are teaming up with the Miami Marlins to make an impact in funding research for our community,” said Ralph L. Sacco, M.D., M.S., professor and chairman of neurology and executive director of the Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. “The inaugural run will serve as a fun time for participants, while also addressing important areas of brain health.”
Registration, which is $50 for adults and $35 for youth, includes a Triple Play 5K presented by UHealth race shirt, a race medal, and a donation to benefit the Miami Marlins Foundation and UHealth.
The Miami Marlins Foundation makes an impact by creating opportunities for youth to stay active, achieve academic success, and build leadership skills. Our wellness programs address barriers that students face in achieving academic success, including food security, healthy eating habits, and fitness. In the area of empowerment, we focus on college scholarships and providing educational resources to students and teachers. Our youth baseball & softball programs promote well-being, proper nutrition, and support social and emotional learning that builds champions on and off the field.
