Guardians name Dan Puente Major League Assistant Hitting Coach

CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Guardians announced today the completion of Manager Stephen Vogt’s Coaching Staff with the hiring of DAN PUENTE as Major League Assistant Hitting Coach.

Puente, 42, spent the last four seasons in the Chicago Cubs organization, spending the 2022 and 2023 campaings as the Hitting Coach of the High-A South Bend Cubs, who claimed the 2022 Midwest League title. Since 2012, he has been a hitting and catching instructor at Elite Baseball Training, a technology-infused baseball and softball instructional company created by Chicago-NL’s Director of Hitting, Justin Stone. Additionally, he was an associate scout for the Houston Astros and from 2008-12 was the Manager of Youth Baseball Initiatives for the Chicago White Sox.

A former 12th round pick out of Bradley University by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2004 MLB Draft, the Chicago, IL native played two seasons in the Orioles’ Minor League system as a catcher and first baseman.
