October 27th, 2022

Major League Baseball today announced that Cleveland Guardians pitcher Triston McKenzie will serve as a social media correspondent during the 2022 World Series Presented by Capital One.

McKenzie will attend Game Two in Houston and Game Three in Philadelphia where he will interview players on the field, make appearances on MLB Network, and give fans a behind-the-scenes look of the Fall Classic on MLB’s social media accounts. This is the second year in a row that an MLB player will act as a World Series social media correspondent for @MLB, after outfielder Brett Phillips covered the 2021 World Series. Viewers can follow McKenzie on Twitter @T_eazy24 and Instagram @triston.mckenzie and watch for his unique World Series content on @MLB. MLB has already gained more than one million followers on Instagram this year, while also generating more than two billion video views on the app.

McKenzie, who was drafted by the Cleveland Guardians in the 1st round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft out of Royal Palm Beach High School, debuted in August 2020. The 25-year old had a breakout year in 2022, finishing top 10 in the American League in every major pitching category with a 2.96 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 190 strikeouts and 44 walks in 191.1 innings pitched. McKenzie was the only player this season to have multiple games with 0 BB and 13 K and tied for 2nd most strikeouts in a game (14). Off the field, McKenzie was named the Guardians’ 2022 Roberto Clemente Award Winner for his work in the community.
