Cleveland Indians fans, partners and players raise over $190,000 in first CIC Giveathon, presented by Kaulig Giving
Money raised will go towards Cleveland Indians Charities youth baseball initiatives
Cleveland, OH— The Cleveland Indians today announced that the first ever CIC Giveathon, presented by Kaulig Giving, raised over $190 thousand due to generous donations from Cleveland Indians fans, partners and players. The money raised will go towards Cleveland Indians Charities youth baseball initiatives in the city of Cleveland.
The CIC Giveathon took place during the Cleveland Indians home game against the Los Angeles Angels on August 2 and featured multiple opportunities for fans to contribute. A special game telecast produced by SportsTime Ohio and simulcast on WKYC highlighted CIC’s youth baseball initiatives through produced features and guest appearances.
Kaulig Companies began the day of giving with a generous donation of $25,000 announced in the ballpark before first pitch with Chairman Matt Kaulig. Indians RHP CARLOS CARRASCO joined the telecast in the top of the 4th inning and announced a donation of $25,000, as he and his wife Karry Carrasco continue their passion of giving back to youth in the Cleveland community.
“We have a really great relationship with the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland community,” said Matt Kaulig. “We want to thank all of those who donated from the bottom of our hearts. We know there are a lot of choices when it comes to donating money and we are appreciative that they chose Cleveland Indians Charities and youth baseball in the city of Cleveland.”
Additionally, Indians players OF TYLER NAQUIN and INF MIKE FREEMAN participated as player spokespersons for the Giveathon, taking part in interviews to promote the day.
The Giveathon featured two different opportunities for fans to donate online at www.Indians.com/Giveathon:
$100-or-more donation for a signed ball by either Terry Francona, Sandy Alomar Jr., Mike Clevinger, Shane Bieber or Carlos Carrasco
Online auction featuring once-in-a-lifetime Tribe items and experiences
Fans at Progressive Field donated in-park by participating in the 50/50 raffle, presented by Conrad’s, or by heading to the Fan Services kiosk.
