SEATTLE, Wash. – The Seattle Mariners made the following 8 selections in Day 2 of the 2023 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Director of Amateur Scouting Scott Hunter announced tonight:

Round 3: Teddy McGraw (Round 3, Pick 92)

Teddy McGraw is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound right-handed pitcher from Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, NC). As a sophomore in 2022, McGraw struck out 67 batters over 70.2 innings pitched with a 4.08 ERA while holding opponents to a .203 batting average. Prior to a season ending elbow injury heading into the 2023 season, his fastball ranged between 95–98 mph. Perfect Game named McGraw as a 2023 Third-Team Preseason All-American and to the Preseason All-ACC Team.

Round 4: Aidan Smith (Round 4, Pick 124)

Aidan Smith is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound outfielder from Lovejoy High School (Lucas, TX). During his senior season, the right-handed hitter batted .483 (57x118) with 10 doubles, 6 triples, 7 home runs, 26 RBI and 17 stolen bases. Perfect Game ranks Smith as the №4 outfielder and №10 overall prospect in the state of Texas. He committed to Mississippi State University before his junior year.

Round 5: Brock Rodden (Round 5, Pick 160)

Brock Rodden is a 5-foot-9, 170-pound infielder out of Wichita State University (Wichita, KS). After batting .371 with 18 doubles, 17 home runs, 64 RBI and 39 walks through 55 games his junior season, Rodden was selected as American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and named Third-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball and ABCA/Rawlings. As a sophomore, he was named to the First Team American Athletic Conference, AAC Newcomer Position Player of the Year and Second Team All-Midwest Region. He was previously drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 10th round (304th overall) of the 2022 MLB Draft and did not sign.

Round 6: Brody Hopkins (Round 6, Pick 187)

Brody Hopkins is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed pitcher from Winthrop University (Rock Hill, SC). In his junior year, Hopkins pitched in 15 games and struck out 66 batters over 54.0 innings pitched. Hopkins also appeared as an outfielder in 49 games with Winthrop. Prior to this season, Hopkins played for the College of Charleston in 2022.

Round 7: Ty Cummings (Round 7, Pick 217)

Ty Cummings is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed pitcher out of Campbell University. He was named First-Team All-Big South Conference after going 6–3 with a 4.31 ERA in 54.1 IP during his junior year in 2023. Ty appeared primarily as a reliever during his college career, making 74 career appearances (3 starts) with 9 saves.

Round 8: Ryan Hawks (Round 8, Pick 247)

Ryan Hawks is a 6-foot-2, 235-pound right-handed pitcher from the University of Louisville (Louisville, KY). During his junior season in 2023, Hawks went 5–3 with a 4.58 ERA and 80 strikeouts over 76.2 innings pitched. He appeared in 47 career games for Louisville, making 15 starts between the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Hawks missed the 2021 season due to injury.

Round 9: RJ Schreck (Round 9, Pick 277)

RJ Schreck is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound outfielder out of Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN). As a graduate student in 2023, Schreck batted .306 with 14 home runs, 59 RBI, and 48 walks. Prior to his 5th collegiate season at Vanderbilt, Schreck spent four seasons at Duke University.

Round 10: Jared Sundstrom (Round 10, Pick 307)

Jared Sundstrom is a 6-foot-3, 225-pound outfielder out of the UC Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara). As a junior in 2023, Sundstrom received an All-Big West First-Team selection with a team-leading .322 batting average and Big West-leading 15 home runs. Prior to his year at UCSB, he played at Santa Rosa Junior College for two seasons.
