Miami Marlins announce 2021 international signings

Top 10 international prospect INF Yiddi Cappe headlines class, which features 11 players hailing from four different countries

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today announced that the club has signed 11 players to open the 2021 International Signing Period, including INF Yiddi Cappe. Cappe, 18, is a consensus top 10 international prospect (Baseball America No. 4, MLB Pipeline No. 10) from Havana, Cuba. The 2021 class, which includes prospects hailing from four different countries, is currently comprised of four pitchers, two catchers, three infielders and two outfielders.

The 2020-21 international signing period was moved from July 2, 2020 to January 15, 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. International players are eligible to sign with a Major League team between January 15 and December 15 or if the player is 17 years old, or will be 17 at the conclusion of the first season of the player’s contract.
