Marlins announce 2023 Spring Training non-roster invitees

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins on Wednesday announced the club has extended Major League Spring Training invitations to the following 27 players:

  • Left-handed pitchers (6): Enmanuel De Jesus *, Dax Fulton, Robert Garcia, Devin Smeltzer *, Will Stewart *, and Jefry Yan *
  • Right-handed pitchers (6): Dylan Bice *, Enrique Burgos *, Chi Chi Gonzalez *, Geoff Hartlieb *, Bryan Hoeing, and Eury Perez
  • Catchers (5): Austin Allen *, Will Banfield, Santiago Chavez *, Paul McIntosh, and Jan Mercado
  • Infielders (8): Jacob Berry, Alex De Goti *, Garrett Hampson *, CJ Hinojosa *, Troy Johnston, Charles Leblanc, Nasim Nunez, and Joe Rizzo *
  • Outfielders (2): Jake Mangum and Brian Miller

The group features three of the Marlins Top 10 prospects, listed by MLBPipeline: No. 1 RHP Eury Perez, No. 3 INF Jacob Berry, and No. 7 LHP Dax Fulton.

Of the 27 players, 10 have Major League service time: Allen, 1.065 (San Diego and Oakland); Burgos, 1.052, (Arizona); De Goti, 0.007, (Houston); Gonzalez, 4.019, (Texas, Colorado, Minnesota, Milwaukee, and New York-AL) ; and Hampson, 4.030, (Colorado), Hartlieb, 1.130 (Pittsburgh and New York-NL), Hoeing, 0.027 (Miami) Leblanc, 0.069, (Miami), Miller, 0.007 (Miami), and Smeltzer, 2.098 (Minnesota).

Marlins pitchers and catchers are scheduled to have their first workout on Thursday, February 16 and the first full-squad workout is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 21.

Miami will open Grapefruit League play on Saturday, February 25 at the New York Mets and then host the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, February 26 for their first home Spring Training game.

The club beings the 2023 regular season on Thursday, March 30, facing the New York Mets at 4:10 p.m. on Opening Day at loanDepot park. The Marlins will host FanFest at loanDepot park on Friday, February 10; the highly-anticipated event returns the first time since 2020, with complimentary admission and parking.
