Mets acquire RHP Elieser Hernandez & RHP Jeff Brigham

FLUSHING, N.Y., November 18, 2022 – The New York Mets today announced the club has acquired RHP Elieser Hernandez and RHP Jeff Brigham from Miami in exchange for minor league RHP Franklin Sanchez and a player to be named later or cash.

Hernandez, 27, made 10 starts and 20 appearances overall for the Marlins in 2022, racking up 60 strikeouts in 62.1 innings. The Ocumare del Tuy, Venezuela native was 3-6 with a 6.35 ERA (44 earned runs/62.1 innings) this season.

From 2020-2021, Hernandez posted a 3.84 ERA (33 earned runs/77.1 innings) with 87 strikeouts in 17 combined starts for the Marlins. For his career, he has held righties to a .241 (134-556) batting average.

Overall, the 6-0, 214-pound righty is 10-21 with a 5.04 ERA (161 earned runs/287.2 innings) in 90 career games (48 starts) with the Marlins from 2018-2022.

Brigham, 30, had a 3.38 ERA (nine earned runs/24.0 innings) with one save in 16 games in relief for Miami last season. The 6-0, 195-pounder held lefties to a .229 (8-35) batting average in 2022.

The Federal Way, WA native is 3-7 with two saves and a 4.52 ERA (40 earned runs/79.2 innings) in 53 games (four starts) with the Marlins.

Sanchez, 22, was 2-2 with a 3.79 ERA (15 earned runs/35.2 innings) in 17 games (seven starts) with Brooklyn (High-A) and St. Lucie (Low-A) in 2022.
