Mets acquire Yohan Ramirez

FLUSHING, N.Y., December 18, 2023 – The New York Mets announced today that the club has acquired RHP Yohan Ramirez from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for cash considerations.

Ramirez, 28, split the 2023 season between the Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates, combining to go 1-0 with a 4.23 ERA (18 ER/38.1 IP) with 17 walks and 35 strikeouts.

The 6-4, 212-pounder has appeared in 102 major league games across four seasons with the Seattle Mariners, Cleveland Guardians, Pirates and White Sox. He owns a 6-4 record with six saves, a 3.99 ERA (55 ER/124.0 IP), 69 walks and 128 strikeouts. He has held right-handed hitters to a .181 (50-277) average in his career.

The native of Villa Mella, Dominican Republic was originally signed by the Houston Astros as a non-drafted minor league free agent in 2016. He was designated for assignment by the White Sox on December 13.
