FLUSHING, N.Y., August 28, 2020 – The New York Mets today announced that the club has claimed outfielder Guillermo Heredia off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Heredia will be optioned to the team’s Alternate Site.

Heredia, 29, has appeared in eight games for the Pirates this season, going 3-16 (.188) with two runs scored and two RBI. He did not make an error in 15 chances in the outfield and recorded one assist, playing both center field and right field for Pittsburgh this season.

The Cuban outfielder has appeared in 390 major league games over five seasons with Seattle (2016-2018), Tampa Bay (2019) and Pittsburgh (2020), tallying 46 doubles and 17 home runs.
