MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today announce two key promotions and a new hire to the executive leadership team as appointed by Marlins President of Business Operations Caroline O’Connor. Tiago Pinto, who joined the Marlins in February 2022, has been elevated to the role of Chief Marketing Officer; Robert Gelman, who has been with the organization for four years, has been named Vice President, Head of Partnership Development and Strategy; and Sara Sanchez joins the Marlins as Vice President of Human Resources.

“This year has been filled with many success stories for our organization, and I am proud to recognize the great talent and work of Tiago and Robert as leaders of our organization,” said Ms. O’Connor. “I am also excited to welcome Sara to our team as we build off the accomplishments from this season, which include a Postseason appearance, 30 percent increase in attendance, and our first jersey patch partnership. Led by a diverse group of innovative minds, our organization continues to progress and evolve, while staying true to our brand and our community.”

Mr. Pinto will continue directing the club’s marketing, promotional, and branding efforts, while also overseeing social media, game presentation, digital marketing, and community engagement. As CMO, his focus will be on enhancing the club’s brand presence, locally, nationally, and internationally, through marketing and community action. Mr. Pinto has more than 20 years of marketing experience, previously serving as the Gatorade Global Marketing Director with PepsiCo and Marketing Director at Nike. He resides in South Miami, Florida.

“Tiago has brought exceptional leadership and strategic vision to our organization, and we have full confidence that he will excel in the new role,” said Ms. O’Connor. “With bountiful experience at national brands, and a longtime member of the Miami community, he will drive our marketing efforts to new levels and further instill our brand with South Florida fans. It is an exciting time for our organization with many great stories to tell, and we trust in Tiago to lead the way.”

As Vice President, Head of Partnership Development and Strategy, Mr. Gelman, who will continue working closely with Marlins Chief Commercial Officer David Oxfeld, will oversee all aspects of the club’s partnership efforts, with a focus on establishing, managing, and leveraging corporate relationships to connect with our community and advance our business. Prior to joining the Marlins in 2020, Mr. Gelman spent six years with the Cleveland Cavaliers, most recently as the Senior Director of Partnerships. With the Marlins, he had a key role in the partnership agreement with ADT, who became the first jersey patch partner in club history. He resides in Parkland, Florida.

“Throughout his tenure with our organization, and most importantly our Partnerships team, Rob has exemplified a collaborative spirit and innovative mind, and this promotion is a testament of his hard work,” said Mr. Oxfeld. “Rob has been a key member of our team, spearheading many current partnerships and building new relationships that have supported our commercial success. It is an exciting moment for our team with this well-deserved promotion.”

Ms. Sanchez joined the Marlins in September of 2023, following seven years as Human Resources Director at Halpern’s Steak & Seafood, where she oversaw the HR function across 10 locations for a $1 Billion business. In her role with the organization, Ms. Sanchez is responsible for the development and administration of policies and procedures covering all aspects of human resources. Additionally, she will oversee the club’s culture committees. Ms. Sanchez has more than 15 years of experience in Human Resources, and resides in Cooper City, Florida.

“Sara brings a wealth of experience and expertise in Human Resources to our organization, and we are excited to have her join the team,” said Ms. O’Connor. “Sara will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of excellence within our organization as we continue to prioritize the growth and well-being of our team members.”
