MILWAUKEE – To Bernie Brewer’s great surprise, his pals at American Family Insurance have shocked him with a fully-renovated residence for the 2021 season. American Family Insurance teamed up with the Johnsonville® Famous Racing Sausages® and Brewers broadcasters in a recent “Mascot Makeover: Chalet Edition” series to renovate his home, but not without some hilarious and expected craziness along the way.
Bernie is now the proud owner of a new Chalet. The improvements are a throwback to Bernie’s original home at County Stadium. Fans will notice that the brand-new residence with an old-school twist provides a homey respite for Bernie, including colorful flowers in the windows.
“We are excited to welcome fans back to American Family Field, and just as excited to unveil a renovated Bernie’s Chalet,” said Rick Schlesinger, Brewers President – Business Operations. “A special thanks to American Family Insurance for making this a reality as we know our fans will embrace the nostalgic design for Bernie’s new home.”
Entering the stadium, fans will also see the new branding and signage that has been installed to reflect the new American Family Field name. In January of 2019, the Brewers and American Family Insurance announced a long-term agreement which included naming rights for the ballpark. The name became official in 2021 and the branding project will be completed prior to Opening Day. The partnership goes well beyond the naming rights to the ballpark as the Brewers and American Family collaboratively fund community projects and promotional initiatives to enhance the fan and customer experience.
The off-season rebuild of Bernie’s Chalet and renaming of the ballpark as American Family Field are just two of the major changes that fans will experience at the ballpark in 2021.
The highly anticipated and newly constructed Miller Lite Landing is an enhanced seating experience that will be welcomed by fans who want to enjoy a unique view of the game. Located in the left-center field Loge Level, the spacious viewing deck includes three rows of seating with tables, a viewing deck with various charging stations, flat screen high definition TVs and an Instagram-worthy 7-foot Brewers logo made of Miller Lite cans. Further, the viewing deck features cold drink holders, built into the rails, to keep beverages perfectly chilled. Like all group spaces in the ballpark, special guidelines and limited capacity initially will be implemented in the space to meet COVID policies.
Another great addition to the Molson Coors line-up of brands is the new Terrapin Bar. Located on the Field Level in the right-field corner, the bar will be housed in a decked-out shipping container and offer fans a handful of Terrapin brands on draft and in cans.
Fans can expect to see updated signage and branding throughout the ballpark that reflect the new ball-in-glove logo (introduced in the start of the 2020 season) and the new American Family Field name. In addition, the Club installed new LED sport lights that add entertainment functionality, improve the quality of lighting on the field and consume 30 percent less energy.
In a first-of-its-kind recycling program, SC Johnson and the Brewers have teamed up to introduce a specialized recycling program in which plastic cups can be recycled into Scrubbing Bubbles® bottles. Fans will see messaging on cups and find new clearly marked receptacles throughout the ballpark to reinforce the initiative.Single game tickets have been held back for purchase for all games (very limited for Opening Day) and will be available beginning Friday, March 26 at 10 a.m. at brewers.com, by phone 1-800-933-78900, and at the American Family Field Box Office. All online and phone purchases will be digitally delivered. Aligned with local health and safety protocols, capacity will be limited for games through May 2. Tickets will be sold in pods of two to four seats. All fans, ages two and older, must wear a facial covering over nose and mouth at all times – except while actively eating and drinking in their designated pods – and practice social distancing.
