Minnesota Twins homestand highlights: August 15-22

Twins to host the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers at Target Field; Theme Nights, giveaways, special events and/or ticket deals available for all seven games

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins return to Target Field tonight to begin a two-team, eight-day, seven-game homestand. The Twins open the homestand with a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals (tonight-Wednesday), before welcoming the Texas Rangers for a four-game, wraparound set on 2022 Twins Hall of Fame Weekend (Friday through Monday, August 22). Twins Hall of Fame celebrations include the inductions of 2010 American League Manager of the Year Ron Gardenhire (Saturday, August 20), two-time World Series champion and longtime broadcaster Dan Gladden (Sunday, August 21) and beloved sparkplug César Tovar (also Sunday, August 21).

Tickets Available
Tickets for the upcoming homestand, along with season, group and single-game tickets for the remainder of the Twins’ 2022 regular season home schedule at Target Field, are available for purchase via twinsbaseball.com, by calling 612-33-TWINS or 1-800-33-TWINS, or in-person at the Target Field Ticket Office. “Ballpark Access” tickets are available for as low as $9.

Twins Gaming Dugout (All 7 games)
The Twins and Wisdom Gaming invite fans to visit the “Twins Gaming Dugout” in the Town Ball Tavern for an opportunity play a variety of esports games, including “MLB The Show 22,” “Minecraft,” “Rocket League” and more. Open to all fans with a ticket to that day’s game, from the time gates open to the conclusion of the contest, the Twins Gaming Dugout features 10 gaming stations available on a first-come, first-served basis. Winners of a daily “MLB The Show 22” tournament will be spotlighted on the main Target Field videoboard.

Diversity Day presented by Treasure Island Resort & Casino: The Twins’ annual Diversity Day brings our region’s many cultures and communities together at Target Field in a celebration of our individual and collective power to create positive change.
o Gate Giveaway: The first 10,000 fans will receive a Twins t-shirt with the phrase “You Decide the Legacy You Leave” in lettering inspired by Target Field’s “All Are Welcome Here” glass mosaic.
o Pregame Performances: Pregame festivities are highlighted by performances from the Community School of Excellence Dance Team, featuring girls and boys from third to eighth grades celebrating the Hmong culture through dance; Drummers and Dancers from the Prairie Island Indian Community celebrating the heritage and tradition of the Indigenous Bdewakantunwan who have lived in southeastern Minnesota for countless generations; and Mexico Azteca, which will bring a beat of Mexico to the ballpark through a combination of ballet and folkloric techniques displaying Mexico’s beauty, while maintaining the essence of its heritage.
o Ceremonial First Pitches: Ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by Michael Childs Jr., a proud husband and father currently serving his second term on the Prairie Island Tribal Council (as the largest employer in Goodhue County, the Prairie Island Indian Community plays an important role in the economic strength and success of the region); and Sharon Smith-Akinsanya, who, as the CEO of Rae Mackenzie Group, founder of PeopleOfColorCareers.com and author of Colorful: Competitive Strategies to Attract and Retain Top Talent of Color, is leading the charge to increase diversity, equity and inclusion in corporate America.
o 2022 Twins Game Changers: The Twins, with presenting partner Mauer Auto Group and broadcast partner Bally Sports North, are proud to highlight small, minority-owned businesses making a big difference by giving back. The 2022 honorees are: Design by Melo, a St. Louis Park-based architecture firm guided by principal architect Damaris Hollingsworth’s belief that the built environment needs to speak to the values of global engagement, cultural competency, inclusion, sustainability and human performance; Epimonia, whose founder and creative director, University of St. Thomas graduate Mohamed Malim, is empowering fellow refugees through sustainable fashion; and PUSH Fitness Studio, a boutique fitness center located in St. Paul’s Midway area whose mission, led by owner and instructor Connie Sheehan, is to make fitness accessible to all.
o National Anthem: The Star-Spangled Banner will be performed by Known MPLS, a Twin Cities community youth choir that, under the direction of Courtland Pickens, utilizes performance-based music education to galvanize youth between the ages of 12-25 as agents of change by promoting self-esteem, leadership skills, cultural awareness, discipline and a commitment to excellence.
o In-game Entertainment: Nunnabove, a renowned Twin Cities positive alternative pop band consisting of siblings Cadence, Mattie, Bennett and Wisdom, will perform between innings.

Native American Heritage Night presented by the Prairie Island Indian Community: The Twins’ annual Native American Heritage Night includes festivities celebrating the Bdewakantunwan of the Prairie Island Indian Community, a Sovereign Nation of Dakota people in southeastern Minnesota and a proud partner of the Minnesota Twins.
o Gate Giveaway: The first 5,000 fans will receive a Dakota-inspired, red “TC” hat co-branded with the Prairie Island Indian Community.
o Pregame Performance: Pregame festivities will be highlighted by Drummers and Dancers from the Prairie Island Indian Community celebrating the heritage and tradition of the Indigenous Bdewakantunwan who have lived in southeastern Minnesota for countless generations; the group will perform first inside Gate 34, and then on the field.
o Ceremonial First Pitch: The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Cody Whitebear, a proud father serving his first term as Assistant Secretary/Treasurer of the Prairie Island Indian Community Tribal Council; as a Tribal leader, he hopes to encourage a new generation of young leaders to emerge and help shape the Tribe’s future, while elevating Tribal voices in the broader community.
o National Anthem: The Star-Spangled Banner will be performed by Tasha Campbell, a proud member of the Prairie Island Bdewakantunwan Sioux Community, who at a young age discovered a love for singing and acting and has since won many awards for both, including being honored as the Singer of the Year at the International Presentation of Performers.
o Online Auction: The Twins will hold a first-of-its-kind auction featuring exclusive, autographed player t-shirts, hats, baseballs and bats adorned with a custom “Mni Sota” logo, as designed by the Prairie Island Indian Community and Treasure Island Resort & Casino. “Mni Sota” represents the Dakota name for Minnesota and means "the land where the waters reflect the skies.". The auction runs from Friday, August 19 to Monday, August 22 at twinsbaseball.com, with proceeds benefitting the Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund.
Gustavus Adolphus College Night: All associated with Gustavus are invited to join their fellow Gusties at Target Field! o National Anthem: The Star-Spangled Banner will be performed by Minneapolis-based Lady Lark, whose blend of disco and R&B musical stylings have made her a staple of the Twin Cities music scene.
Bob Feller Act of Valor Award Nominee Presentation: The Twins will honor centerfielder Byron Buxton as their 2022 nominee for the Bob Feller Act of Valor Award in a pregame presentation. The award is given annually to an active major league player who best exemplifies Hall of Famer Feller’s duality of service to country and love of baseball. Buxton, whose older brother Felton serves in the U.S. Navy, will be recognized for his community service initiatives supporting military servicemembers and their families.
Twins Hall of Fame Appearances: 2022 Twins Hall of Fame Weekend will get started with special, interactive opportunities with two of this year’s inductees – Ron Gardenhire and Dan Gladden.

Ron Gardenhire Twins Hall of Fame Induction: Fifteen members of the Twins Hall of Fame, along with family, friends and Ron Gardenhire’s former coaches will be on hand to help celebrate the 2010 American League Manager of the Year.
o Gate Giveaway presented by Coordinated Business Systems: Courtesy of Coordinated Business Systems, the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive one of three varieties of Twins Hall of Fame Mystery Cap – each representing the hat worn during the on-field era of the Twins Hall of Fame Class of 2022 and featuring the signature of Ron Gardenhire, Dan Gladden and César Tovar, respectively.
o Plaque Unveiling: Ron Gardenhire will join fans on Target Plaza at 4:15 p.m. as his Twins Hall of Fame plaque is officially unveiled.
o Twins Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony: Ron Gardenhire, who was the third base coach for the club’s 1991 World Series Championship and later led the team to six American League Central division titles as the second-winningest manager in Minnesota Twins history, will officially become the 35th member of the Twins Hall of Fame during a special pregame ceremony. The 2010 American League Manager of the Year who guided the Twins to 90-plus wins five times in 13 seasons, “Gardy” will be joined on the field by his family and friends, along with his former coaches, fellow members of the Twins Hall of Fame and club dignitaries past and present. Dick Bremer will serve as emcee, while fellow Twins Hall of Famer and his direct predecessor as Minnesota manager, Tom Kelly, will formally introduce Gardenhire.

Dan Gladden and César Tovar Twins Hall of Fame Induction: Seventeen members of the Twins Hall of Fame, along with family, friends and former teammates, will be on hand to help celebrate two-time World Series champion and longtime broadcaster Dan Gladden, along with a beloved sparkplug from the Twins’ first two division champs, the late César Tovar.
o Gate Giveaway presented by Coordinated Business Systems: The first 5,000 fans will receive a Twins Hall of Fame Collectible Pin Set, courtesy of Coordinated Business Systems.
o Plaque Unveiling: Dan Gladden and members of César Tovar’s family will join fans on Target Plaza at 11:15 a.m. as their Twins Hall of Fame plaques are officially unveiled.
o Twins Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony: Dan Gladden, who is in his 29th season with the Twins organization, including five as a two-time World Series-winning player and 20 as a full-time member of the club’s radio broadcast team; and the late César Tovar, who once played all nine positions in a game for the Twins and is in the top-15 on the club’s all-time list for stolen bases, triples, hits, at-bats, runs, doubles and games played, will officially become the 36th and 37th members of the Twins Hall of Fame, respectively, during special pregame ceremonies. Gladden, and Tovar’s children Nancy Jones, César Tovar and David Schneck, will be joined by family and friends, along with former teammates, fellow members of the Twins Hall of Fame, and club dignitaries past and present.
