Red Sox reinstate right-handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi from 15-day injured list

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today reinstated right-handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi from the 15-Day Injured List. To make room for Eovaldi on the active roster, the club optioned right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold following last night’s game.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Eovaldi, 32, will start today’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. The right-hander was placed on the Injured List on August 23 with right shoulder inflammation, retroactive to August 19, and tossed 3.0 innings for Triple-A Worcester in his lone rehab start on September 23. Eovaldi is 5-3 with a 4.15 ERA (46 ER/99.2 IP) in 18 starts for Boston this season.

Seabold, 26, started on Monday against Baltimore, allowing four earned runs in 2.0 innings. The right-hander is 0-4 with an 11.29 ERA (23 ER/18.1 IP) across four stints with Boston this season, and 8-2 with a 3.32 ERA (32 ER/86.2 IP) in 19 starts for Worcester.
