Nationals recall RHP Austin Voth from AA Harrisburg

The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Austin Voth from Double-A Harrisburg and optioned catcher Spencer Kieboom to Double-A Harrisburg on Tuesday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announclement.

Voth, 27, returns to the Nationals after making one start for Double-A Harrisburg on July 11 against Richmond (SFG). He tossed 6.0 innings of two-hit, shutout ball with six strikeouts and one walk in Harrisburg’s 7-2 win. He was optioned to Harrisburg after his July 5th start against the Kansas City Royals.

In 13 Minor League starts between Triple-A Fresno and Double-A Harrisburg, Voth is 4-5 with a 4.01 ERA. His 4.01 ERA ranks fifth among Nationals farmhands, while his 74 strikeouts are good for seventh in the organization.

Voth will make his fourth Major League start of the season tonight against Baltimore. He has posted a 5.52 ERA with 16 strikeouts and five walks in his previous three starts.

Kieboom, 28, did not appear in a game during this stint with the Nationals.
