Oakland A’s Celebrate MLK Day with Donation to 100 Black Men of the Bay Area, Inc.

A’s to also host front office food drive benefiting the Alameda County Community Food Bank

January 16th, 2023

OAKLAND, Calif. — To celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his commitment to creating change, the A’s today made a donation to 100 Black Men of the Bay Area, Inc. to support its Young Black Scholars program. This week, the A’s will also host a front office food drive and provide volunteer and educational resources for its staff members.

100 Black Men of the Bay Area has four primary objectives: to serve as role models and mentors for our youth; to provide scholarship assistance for our youth; to promote economic development in our community; and to promote health, wellness, and non-violence. The A’s donation will support the organization’s Young Black Scholars program, which has awarded more than $1.9 million to more than 800 Bay Area students since it was established in 1992. The A’s have provided a list of volunteer opportunities and educational resources to its staff members for MLK Day.
