The Phillies are teaming up with Dentistry for Life, the preferred dentist of the Philadelphia Phillies, to bring smiles to the faces of those who have served in the military with “Operation: Smiles for Freedom.” This unique smile makeover giveaway offers a Philly-area veteran who could use expert dental care the chance to receive a free total dental makeover.
The veteran selected will also be recognized for their service at a 2023 Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park, which includes a VIP experience and the opportunity to throw a ceremonial first pitch.
“At Dentistry for Life, we want to do our part to bring smiles to the faces of those who serve,” said Dentistry for Life Principal and Clinical Director Dr. Kunal Parikh. “We’re proud to join the Phillies to give back to those who fight to defend our nation’s freedoms.”
“This could be a life-changing opportunity for a retired or active-duty military member who has difficulty eating, smiling or speaking because of missing or failing teeth,” said Phillies Senior Vice President of Partnership Sales & Corporate Marketing Jackie Cuddeback. “Thank you to Dr. Parikh and his amazing team at Dentistry for Life for providing this invaluable service as they serve our soldiers, one smile at a time.”
Nominations for “Operation: Smiles for Freedom” must be submitted by Friday, November 11 (Veterans Day), via an online entry form here. Candidates must be local active duty, reserve or veterans of the military, as well as Phillies fans, to be considered for the complimentary smile makeover giveaway.
Entrants must provide a brief essay on why they think they need a smile makeover, as well as submit two digital photos of their current smile and teeth.
The recipient will receive a complete set of new teeth at no cost (regular cost of treatment is $50,000). This type of tooth replacement is called full-arch mouth restoration, or All-on-4 dental implants. It involves using dental implants to secure a fixed denture in one or both arches. Following the replacement, Dentistry for Life will work closely with a restorative cosmetic dental implant specialist to complete the treatment.
