Pirates announce plans for (Re)Opening Weekend

Club officially welcomes fans back to PNC Park without restrictions with a postgame concert featuring Big & Rich

The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced plans for an exciting (Re)Opening Weekend scheduled for Thursday, July 1 through Sunday, July 4 as the team plays host to the Milwaukee Brewers. The weekend starts big with a just announced Big & Rich postgame concert on the field at PNC Park on Thursday.

The American country music duo will play the first live large-venue concert in Pittsburgh since before the pandemic. All fans in attendance are encouraged to stay in their seats after the game to hear hits such as Save a Horse, Comin’ to Your City, and Run Away with You live from a stage on the field.

Summer 2021 officially begins in Pittsburgh as the Pirates celebrate PNC Park opening to full capacity with the entire Independence Day weekend packed with the return of many fan-favorite activities around the ballpark. It all begins on Thursday with the postgame concert and a Sugardale Dollar Dog Night in which all hot dogs are priced at just one dollar at select concession stands throughout the ballpark.

Friday night is a Free Shirt Friday as the first 20,000 fans inside PNC Park receive a free Pirates T-shirt, presented by Peoples, to celebrate Independence Day. Once inside the park on Friday, fans 21 and older are encouraged to start the night with the Miller Lite Happy Hour at the Crow’s Nest bar with drink specials from the time gates open to first pitch. Throughout the entire Brewers series, fans 21 and older inside PNC Park can visit the Crow’s Nest, Skull Bar, or Keystone Corner each day for a free Vizzy Hard Seltzer sampling, while supplies last.

Saturday is a special date as the Pirates will welcome back and celebrate “The Pittsburgh Kid,” Neil Walker, in a pregame on-field ceremony. Walker will be joined on the field by his family to throw out the ceremonial first pitch in honor of his retirement from a 12-year Major League playing career.

In addition, Saturday will include the first Jim Beam Block Party on Federal Street in two years! The Pirates announced the return of the Jim Beam Block Party that includes a party on Federal Street with live entertainment, drink specials and more. The night also includes a Pirates Cooler Bag giveaway, presented by Sheetz, as the first 20,000 fans inside the ballpark will receive a soft-sided cooler bag.

On Sunday, the Pirates will celebrate the season’s first Kids Day at PNC Park with fun on Federal Street for all families, in-game activities and more. As part of the day, all kids 14 years and under will receive Pirates sunglasses, presented by AHN, as they enter the ballpark.
