On Sunday, August 1, the Pittsburgh Pirates plan a celebration of area youth baseball and softball players and coaches in and around PNC Park as the team hosts the Philadelphia Phillies for a 1:05 p.m. game. The entire Youth Baseball and Softball Day, presented by Nike, is packed full of pregame events and in-game activities with young players in mind.

The day starts with a Chalk Talk event that includes Pirates celebrities joining youth players for a special question and answer session inside PNC Park from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All youth players and coaches whose tickets are purchased through pirates.com/youthbaseballandsoftball will receive an invite to the event along with their discounted ticket. Tickets are available now through this special offer for just $10.

In addition, the morning will include fun on Federal Street with the Kids Zone pregame from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The family recreation area stretches from General Robinson Street to the Clemente Bridge and includes an inflatable batting cage, speed pitching, a Pirate Parrot bounce house, face painters, caricaturists and more.

As part of Youth Baseball and Softball Day ceremonies, the Pirates will honor the 12 area WPIAL championship baseball and softball teams in a pregame on-field ceremony as well as members of the Jr. Pirates in a special warning track recognition. Throughout the game, youth baseball and softball players will take part in in-game activities on the scoreboard and more.

All kids 14 and under entering PNC Park on Sunday will receive Pirates Topps baseball cards to add to or start their baseball card collection. In addition, the Bucco Brigade will be on hand on Federal Street and inpark with a fun photo booth where kids can create their own baseball card with a giant handheld cutout Topps Baseball card frame.
