Pittsburgh's Castro disciplined

August 16th, 2022

Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Rodolfo Castro has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for violating Major League Baseball’s electronic device policy by having a cell phone in his back pocket during his Club’s Tuesday, August 9th game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix. Michael Hill, Major League Baseball’s Senior Vice President for On-Field Operations, made the announcement.

The suspension of Castro had been scheduled to be served tonight, when the Pirates are to host the Boston Red Sox at PNC Park. However, Castro has elected to appeal. Thus, the discipline will be held in abeyance until that process is complete.
