Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Wednesday night’s series finale against Baltimore at Globe Life Field:
- Infielder Jake Burger activated from 10-day Injured List.
- Third baseman Josh Jung optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Burger, 29, missed the Rangers' last 10 games with a left oblique strain sustained on June 20 at Pittsburgh. The infielder logged one game on an injury rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco, going 1-for-3 with one walk in a start at first base yesterday vs. Arkansas. In 65 games across 2 stints with Texas this season (Opening Day-May 1, May 12-June 20), Burger has hit .220/.253/.403/.656 (52-236) with 10 home runs, 13 doubles, and 29 RBI, starting 59 games at first base and 5 games as the designated hitter. The right-handed hitter leads the Rangers with 7 home runs and a .456 slugging percentage since he was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on May 12.
The 27-year-old Jung has batted .237/.283/.366/.648 (66-279) with 8 home runs, one triple, 10 doubles, 35 RBI, and 25 runs scored in 75 games for Texas this season, starting 73 games at third base (72) and designated hitter (1). He last appeared in Tuesday night’s win over Baltimore as a defensive replacement at third base in the 9th inning and did not log a plate appearance. The former 8th overall selection of the 2019 MLB Draft by Texas has logged a career .252 batting average with 43 home runs and 135 RBI over 269 games spanning the last four seasons (2022-25) with the Rangers.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with four players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Tyler Mahle, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
