Rangers activate OF/DH Khris Davis from 10-day injured list, option OF Eli White to Triple-A Round Rock

Davis will be in uniform for Saturday’s game against Seattle, seeking his Rangers debut

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers announced prior to Saturday night’s game against Seattle that the club has activated outfielder/designated hitter Khris Davis from the 10-day Injured List. To make room for Davis on the active roster, the team has optioned outfielder Eli White to Triple-A Round Rock.

Davis opened the season on the 10-day Injured List with a Grade 2 left quad strain suffered during a Spring Training game on March 23 vs. Los Angeles-AL. He batted .219 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI over 13 games with the Rangers this spring, including .429 (6-14) over his final 5 spring games prior to the injury. During a brief injury rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Round Rock, Davis went 0-for-4 as the designated hitter during his lone game on Thursday vs. Oklahoma City. He also went 1-for-10 with 3 walks in 3 games with the Alternate Training Site squad in Round Rock prior to the start of the Triple-A season. Davis played in several minor league spring training games in Arizona before joining the Alternate Site at Round Rock.

The 33-year-old Davis was acquired in a February 6 trade with the Oakland Athletics along with catcher Jonah Heim, and right-handed pitcher Dane Acker in exchange for shortstop Elvis Andrus, catcher Aramis Garcia, and cash considerations. Davis has hit 158 home runs from 2016-20, the fourth-highest total in MLB in that span to only Nelson Cruz (176), Nolan Arenado (165), and Mike Trout (158). He produced at least 40 home runs and 100 RBI over three consecutive seasons from 2016-18, just the 22nd player in MLB history to accomplish that feat, including a Major League-high 48 home runs in 2018.

White made the Opening Day roster for the first time in his career, batting .127 (7-55) with no home runs and 4 RBI in 20 games for Texas this season.
