Heineman, 26, will be seeking his Major League debut. The Rangers 2018 Minor League Player of the Year, he opened this season on the 60-day injured list following surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder on December 10, 2018. He played 6 games on an injury rehabilitation assignment from May 21-27, but was pulled from that assignment after experiencing soreness in his left shoulder. He began another injury rehab assignment with 4 games for the Arizona League Rangers from June 19-23, and has been at Nashville since June 25. Heineman was formally reinstated from the injured list and optioned to Nashville on July 3.

Overall at Triple-A this season, Heineman has batted .372/.435/.581/1.017 (48-129) with 6 home runs and 18 RBI in 33 games. His last MLB appearance at a position other than catcher was on September 26, 2018 at Los Angeles-AL (third base).

Trevino, 26, will be in the second Major League stint of his career, as he went 2-for-8 in a 3-game series June 15-17, 2018 vs. Colorado. In his last big league appearance, he hit a walk-off 2-run single in the ninth inning of that series finale. He has combined to bat .214 (39-182) with 3 home runs and 28 RBI over 51 games for Nashville and the Arizona League Rangers this season, including a stint on the Sounds injured list from May 19-July 10 with a right quadriceps strain.

The Rangers have seven days (beginning Thursday) to release or outright both Cabrera and Federowicz to the minor leagues. Cabrera batted .235 with 12 home runs and 51 RBI over 93 games with Texas this season, serving as the club’s primary third baseman for the first four months. Federowicz was acquired in a June 7 trade with Cleveland and batted .169 with 4 home runs and 7 RBI in 28 games.
