Milwaukee, Wis. — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard (#39) from Triple-A Nashville. Allard takes the roster spot of outfielder Scott Heineman, who was optioned to Nashville following Wednesday’s doubleheader in Cleveland.

Allard, 21, will be the starting pitcher for tonight’s series opener in Milwaukee beginning at 7:10 p.m. CT. It will mark the Texas debut for Allard, who was acquired from Atlanta on July 30 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Chris Martin. Allard has combined to go 7-5 with a 3.99 ERA in 21 starts for the Braves’ Triple-A Gwinnett affiliate and Nashville in 2019. The left-hander made one start for the Sounds following the trade, taking a no decision on Saturday vs. Albuquerque (5.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 8 SO, 97 pitches/63 strikes).

Over 5 minor league seasons, Allard has gone 29-23 with a 3.19 ERA in 86 games/starts. He made his major league debut with Atlanta last season, posting a 1-1 record and 12.38 ERA in 3 games/one start. The Southern California native was originally drafted by the Braves in the first round (14th overall) of the 2015 June Draft.

Following this transaction, the Rangers have 39 players on the club’s Major League roster, along with seven players on the 60-day injured list: LHP Jesse Biddle, RHP Luke Farrell, LHP Taylor Hearn, RHP Nate Jones, LHP Yohander Méndez, LHP Jeffrey Springs, and RHP Edinson Vólquez.
