Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions:

  • Right-handed pitcher Luis Curvelo recalled from Triple-A Round Rock
  • Right-handed pitcher Carter Baumler placed on 15-day Injured List with a right intercostal strain

Curvelo, 25, has made 3 appearances for Round Rock this season, allowing 2 earned runs in 3.0 innings while notching one save. Both runs came in his most recent appearance for the Express on Thursday vs. Gwinnett (1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 R-ER, 1 BB, 1 SO, 27 pitches/15 strikes). The right-hander pitched to a 1-0 record, with one save, a 4.15 ERA (4 ER/8.2 IP), and 12 strikeouts against just one walk over 8 relief appearances in Cactus League play for Texas this spring and was optioned to Round Rock on March 23.

A native of Higuerote, Venezuela, Curvelo made his Major League debut for Texas in 2025, going 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA (12 ER/19.0 IP) and 1.42 WHIP in 17 relief appearances from July 30 through the end of the season. He posted reverse splits in his first MLB action, limiting left-handers to a .194 batting average (6-31). Curvelo was originally signed by Texas to a Major League contract on November 13, 2024 after spending the first six seasons of his professional career in the Mariners organization.

The 24-year-old Baumler posted no record with a 3.18 ERA (2 ER/5.2 IP), 6 walks, and 6 strikeouts in 4 relief appearances with Texas to begin the year, most recently appearing Saturday vs. Cincinnati (1.0 SHO IP, 1 SO). The right-hander made his Major League debut on Opening Day, March 26 at Philadelphia, turning in 1.0 scoreless relief frame (1 H, 1 BB, 1 SO, 1 HB). Baumler was acquired in a trade with Pittsburgh on December 10, 2025 after he was selected in the Rule 5 Draft from Baltimore earlier that day.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with one player on the 60-day Injured List (LHP Jordan Montgomery).
