Rangers return home for three-game homestand against Athletics, set to debut City Connect uniforms Friday, April 21

City Connect uniforms, multiple giveaways highlight three-game series vs. division rival Oakland

April 19th, 2023

Arlington, Texas— The first-place Texas Rangers return home to Globe Life Field on Friday, April 21 to host a three-game homestand against the Oakland Athletics. The series opener on Friday begins at 7:05 p.m. with game two on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. and the series finale is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, April 23.

In the series opener against Oakland, the Rangers will wear their new Nike City Connect uniforms for the first time. The new uniforms pay homage to Arlington, Dallas, and Fort Worth and will be worn by the Rangers every Friday at Globe Life Field.

Leading off the City Connect festivities on Friday will be a trio of ceremonial first pitches thrown by the Mayor of Arlington, Jim Ross, the Mayor of Fort Worth, Mattie Parker, and U.S. rep. Colin Allred (TX-32). Additionally, as part of City of Arlington Night, the city council will be recognized pregame.

A pair of promotions presented by Globe Life highlight the uniform debut as the first 30,000 fans take home the commemorative City Connect Program giveaway and the first 15,000 collect the City Connect-themed Marcus Semien Bobblehead giveaway. The Semien bobblehead is the first of a three-part City Connect bobblehead series also featuring Corey Seager on Friday, May 19 and Jacob deGrom on Friday, June 16. Additionally, as part of the Rangers Poster Series, a City Connect edition poster designed by DFW artist Chris Perez will be available for purchase at the Authentics kiosk behind section 134. All poster proceeds benefit the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.

Saturday, April 22 is the only Saturday game of the season in which the Rangers will wear their City Connect uniforms. Just like Friday’s opener, the first 30,000 fans will take home the commemorative City Connect Program giveaway, presented by Globe Life. Additionally, the first 10,000 fans will receive the Arlington Stadium Replica, presented by Coca-Cola.

Shortly after gates open Saturday, former Rangers legend and National Baseball Hall of Famer Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez will sign autographs in the New Era Alumni Alley from 4:15-5:15.

Bob Kendrick, President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, will throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to Saturday’s game against Oakland as the Rangers recognize Jackie Robinson Day. Proceeds from The Texas 2 Spilt 50/50 Raffle, presented by Kroger, will benefit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

With left-hander Andrew Heaney expected to start Saturday night, fans that purchase a ticket in the Outfield Pavilion will be rewarded with $9 of free loaded value when using the promo code HEANEY. On April 10 vs. Kansas City, Heaney matched the American League record for consecutive strikeouts with nine. The $9 can be redeemed on merchandise and/or food and beverage at Globe Life Field.

For fans unable to attend Friday or Saturday night at Globe Life Field, Dallas and Fort Worth will feature the City Connect collection at a pair of watch parties at local art venues. Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez will sign autographs from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at ArtPark Trinity Groves in Dallas (331 Singleton Blvd) on Friday and again from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival (Corner of Main Street and E 2nd Street) on Saturday.

The homestand and series finale is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 1:35 CT. The first 15,000 fans will take home the Rangers Powder Blue Hoodie, presented by Coca-Cola. The first Sunday matinee of the season brings $1 Blue Bell Ice Cream for kids 13 and under. Additionally, kids 13 and under can run the bases postgame.
