  • Right-handed pitcher Austin Pruitt transferred from 15-day to 60-day Injured List.
  • Infielder Davis Wendzel optioned to Triple-A Round Rock, effective postgame on May 19.

The 28-year-old Hill will be seeking his Rangers debut in the series in Philadelphia. He has spent the entire campaign with Round Rock, batting .333/.387/.659/1.046 (43-129) with 8 home runs, 10 doubles, 4 triples, 16 RBI, and 30 runs scored over 34 games for the Express in 2024. He ranks among Pacific Coast League leaders in slugging (2nd, .659), triples (T3rd, 4), OPS (4th, 1.046), batting average (T4th, .333), extra-base hits (T7th, 22), total bases (8th, 85), and home runs (T8th, 8). Over his last 20 games at Triple-A beginning April 19, Hill has batted .354/.400/.756/1.156 (29-82) with 7 home runs, 6 doubles, 3 triples, 13 RBI, and 22 runs scored.

Signed by Texas on December 27, 2023 as a non-roster invitee to the club’s Major League Spring Training camp, Hill batted .293/.356/.341/.697 (12-41) with 2 doubles and 3 RBI over a team-high 24 Cactus League games this spring before he was assigned to minor league camp on March 28. While he has played primarily center field this season and throughout his professional career, Hill has also seen extended action in both left field and right field. He has batted .229 with 4 home runs and 18 RBI over 108 career MLB games with Detroit (2020-22) and Washington (2023), with his last Major League game coming with the Nationals on July 4, 2023 vs. Cincinnati. The Elk Grove, California native was originally selected by the Tigers in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft.

Pruitt was placed on the 15-day Injured List on April 24, retroactive to April 21, with a right knee medial meniscus injury. He posted no record and a 12.46 ERA (6 ER/4.1 IP) over 4 relief appearances for Texas this season. The first date he is eligible to be activated is June 23.

Wendzel went 2-for-29 with one home run and 2 RBI over 17 games with Texas in his first stint on the Major League roster from April 8-May 19. He has spent the balance of the season with Round Rock, batting .314 (11-35) with 3 home runs and 8 RBI over 9 games.

With these transactions, Texas remains at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with eight players on the 60-day Injured List: Brock Burke, Carson Coleman, Jacob deGrom, Justin Foscue, Josh Jung, Tyler Mahle, Austin Pruitt, and Max Scherzer.
