Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has signed left-handed pitcher Jalen Beeks (#65) to a one-year Major League contract covering the 2026 season. To make room for Beeks on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Alexis Díaz was designated for assignment.
The 32-year-old Beeks was Arizona's most utilized pitcher in 2025, posting a 5-3 record with one save, a 3.77 ERA (24 ER/57.1 IP), and a 1.081 WHIP figure in 61 appearances/2 starts. The southpaw was equally effective against lefties (.611 opponent OPS) and right-handed batters (.624 opponent OPS), with his .618 overall opponent OPS ranking 7th-best among left-handed relievers in the N.L. (min. 50 games). Beeks fashioned a 1.86 ERA (4 ER/19.1 IP) in 22 games/2 starts from July 3 through the end of the season, limiting the opposition to a .169 (11-65) average during that span.
Beeks has pitched in seven Major League seasons for five clubs: Boston (2018), Tampa Bay (2019-20, 2022-23), Colorado (2024), Pittsburgh (2024), and Arizona (2025). He owns a 28-18 record with 16 saves, a 4.31 ERA, 3.99 FIP, and 376 strikeouts over 158 walks in 263 career games, including 21 starts. His 132 appearances with the Rockies, Pirates, and Diamondbacks from 2024-25 were T4th-most among N.L. left-handers and T11th-most on the entire Senior Circuit. Beeks was originally selected by Boston in the 12th round of the 2014 MLB Draft from the University of Arkansas and debuted with the Red Sox in June 2018.
Díaz, 29, allowed 8 earned runs over 1.2 innings in 3 Cactus League relief appearances for the Rangers this Spring, last appearing on Sunday vs. Los Angeles-AL (0.0 IP, 5 ER, 3 BB). The right-hander originally signed a one-year Major League contract with Texas on December 16, 2025. The Rangers have seven days to trade, release, or outright Díaz to the minor leagues.
With today's transactions, the Rangers have 47 players in the club's Major League camp: 34 members of the 40-man roster, 12 non-roster invitees, and one player on the 60-day Injured List (LHP Jordan Montgomery). Texas’ Major League roster remains at the 40-man limit.
