Rays open three-team, 10-game homestand tomorrow

Rays to Honor Vincent J. Naimoli, Blake Bivens Family Pregame Friday

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays open their three-team, 10-game homestand tomorrow against the Cleveland Indians at 7:10 p.m. Due to the pending arrival of Hurricane Dorian, the Rays and Major League Baseball will provide more details on the remainder of the homestand at a later time. The 2019 Rays season is presented by Tampa General Hospital.

Vince Naimoli and Bivens Family Pregame Tribute: Twice in the past week, the Rays family was struck by tragedy.

On Sunday night, the original owner and CEO of the then-Devil Rays, Vincent J. Naimoli, passed away following a long illness at the age of 81. On Tuesday, minor league pitcher Blake Bivens suffered a terrible family tragedy that claimed the lives of his wife, Emily; one-year-old son, Cullen; and mother-in-law, Joan Bernard. On Friday, the Rays will honor them all with a moment of silence. The Rays will also recognize Naimoli’s contributions in a ceremony.

Rays to Wear Patch Honoring Vince Naimoli: Starting with Friday’s home game, the Rays will wear a commemorative “VJN” patch on the right jersey sleeve for the remainder of the 2019 season. The emblem features navy lettering on a white background.

Rays to Wear Devil Rays Uniforms: The Rays will wear their Majestic Athletic white alternate throwback Devil Rays jersey using the original gradient Devil Rays design, worn from 1998–2000, and their navy blue New Era retro caps.

Ticket Special: $7.11 Tickets—For all Friday home games, fans may purchase tickets for only $7.11. To take advantage of this special price, fans should visit a participating local 7-Eleven store and pick up the Rays Friday Night discount coupon. Tickets are limited and fans are encouraged to purchase in advance.

Reading with the Rays: Rays pitcher Charlie Morton will host Reading with the Rays, presented by Suncoast Credit Union, for second and third grade students at Palmetto Elementary School in Palmetto. Reading with the Rays is an incentive-based reading program that encourages Pre-K to 12th grade students to avoid summer learning loss by reading for 24 hours during the summer months.
