BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced that they have added Chris Holt to the Major League coaching staff as Bullpen Coach.
Holt, 45, spent the past five seasons (2020-24) as Director of Pitching for the Baltimore Orioles, having also served as Major League Pitching Coach from 2021-23. He previously worked in the Orioles organization as an associate scout (2012-13) and as Minor League Pitching Coordinator (2019). Prior to joining the Orioles, Holt worked in the Houston Astros organization as a pitching coach for Short-Season Single-A Tri-City (2014-15), Single-A Quad Cities (2016), and High-A Buies Creek (2017), and then as Assistant Pitching Coordinator in 2018.
Selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 21st round of the 2002 First-Year Player Draft out of Flagler College (FL), Holt spent one season as a pitcher in the Pirates system before beginning his coaching career. After serving as an assistant coach at Flagler from 2004-07, he coached at Allen D. Nease High School (2008) and Ponte Vedra High School (2008-11). From 2012-14, in addition to his duties with the Orioles and Astros, Holt worked as a pitching instructor at the Winning Inning, a baseball academy in Clearwater, Florida.
A native of Portland, Maine, Holt graduated in 1998 from Cheverus High School. He attended St. Joseph’s College of Maine before transferring to Flagler.
