Club Reinstates Outfielder Rob Refsnyder from 10-Day Injured List

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today placed outfielder Tyler O’Neill on the 7-Day Injured List, retroactive to April 16. To fill O’Neill’s spot on the active roster, the club reinstated outfielder Rob Refsnyder from the 10-Day Injured List.

O’Neill, 28, was removed from Monday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians in the seventh inning. The right-handed hitter has played in 15 games with Boston, making 10 starts in right field and four in left field while batting .313 (15-for-48) with a team-leading seven home runs. Originally selected by the Seattle Mariners in the third round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft, the British Columbia native has batted .250 (378-for-1,512) with 85 home runs and 225 RBI in 492 career Major League games for the St. Louis Cardinals (2018-23) and Red Sox (2024).

Refsnyder, 33, was placed on the injured list on March 28, retroactive to March 25, with a left toe fracture. The right-handed hitter played in four rehab games for Triple-A Worcester, making two starts in right field, one at first base, and one as the designated hitter while going 4-for-12 with three runs scored and one home run. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the fifth round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, he has batted .244 (217-for-891) in 378 career Major League games with the Yankees (2015-17), Toronto Blue Jays (2017), Tampa Bay Rays (2018), Texas Rangers (2020), Minnesota Twins (2021), and Red Sox (2022-23).
