Red Sox place shortstop Trevor Story on 10-day injured list

Club recalls infielder David Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today placed shortstop Trevor Story on the 10-Day Injured List with a left shoulder dislocation. To fill Story’s spot on the active roster, the club recalled infielder David Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester.

Story, 31, started each of the Red Sox’ first eight games, going 7-for-31 (.226) with four RBI and three walks. The Texas native has batted .265 (892-for-3,368) with 177 home runs and 124 stolen bases in 890 career games with the Colorado Rockies (2016-21) and Red Sox (2022-24).

Hamilton, 26, has played in five games with Worcester this season, going 3-for-18 (.167) with two home runs while making three starts at shortstop, one at second base, and one as the designated hitter. The left-handed hitter made his Major League debut in 2023, appearing in 15 games with Boston. Since the start of 2021, the Texas native leads all minor leaguers in stolen bases (179).
