August 10th, 2023

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox will celebrate Dominican Republic Culture Night at Fenway Park today, August 10, recognizing members of the local Dominican community in ceremonies and pregame entertainment before the 7:10 p.m. Red Sox-Royals game.

Tonight’s ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by merengue music legend, Toño Rosario, and well-known doctor, philanthropist, and businessman in the Dominican Republic, Doctor Felix Antonio Cruz Jiminian.  Four kids from the non-profit, Cambiando El Mundo, in Lawrence will announce “Play Ball.” The Anthem will be performed by Dominican classical vocalist, Yorgelis Williams.

Entertainment prior to the game will be provided by Antonio Gutierrez y Super Poder on Jersey Street, DJ Marion on the Sam Deck, and Grupo Kalife on the Big Concourse located inside the ballpark between Gates C and B.

Tonight’s festivities were planned in collaboration with the Dominican Festival of Boston. Dominican Festival leaders and Consul General of the Dominican Republic in Boston, Enrique Garcia, will be recognized on the field prior to the game, in addition to 10 local teens that recently participated in the Red Sox Lindos Sueños program. The Lindos Sueños program, presented in Partnership with JetBlue, strives to bring people of different backgrounds together through the common appeal of baseball and community service. During their trip to the Dominican Republic last month, the group assisted in building a home for a local family in El Mamón, Dominican Republic, and trained alongside 10 teammates in the Dominican Republic at the Red Sox Dominican Academy.

Fans who purchased tickets for tonight’s game through redsox.com/dominican will receive a custom Red Sox replica jersey highlighting the Dominican Republic flag on the front and the outline of the country on the sleeve. Dominican Republic Culture Night is part of the club’s ongoing effort to make Fenway Park an inclusive environment open to all fans.
