The Phillies have named Jimmy Rollins special advisor to the president of baseball operations, the club announced today. In this role, he will periodically assist the major league club in an on-field capacity and advise the front office with baseball operations decisions.

“We are thrilled to have Jimmy back as part of the baseball operations staff and look forward to the positive impact he will have on this year’s team,” said Phillies Managing Partner John Middleton. “Jimmy is synonymous with one of the two greatest runs in Phillies history. In addition to holding the title of all-time hits leader, his impact on the team’s performance and his involvement in the community during his playing time in Philadelphia make Jimmy one of the most legendary players to wear red pinstripes.”

“The addition of Jimmy Rollins to our baseball operations department is a significant gain for the Phillies,” said President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski. “As one of the franchise’s all-time greats, Jimmy brings tremendous baseball instincts and an institutional knowledge of what it takes to win in Philadelphia. We look forward to his continued contributions to the Phillies.”

Prior to joining the baseball operations staff, Rollins had served as a special advisor since 2019, doing a variety of jobs on both the baseball and business sides of the organization, including – but not limited to – coaching, meeting with sponsors and suite holders, fan engagement and community outreach. He joined the broadcast team that same year and will continue to be an on-air analyst for a select number of games for NBC Sports Philadelphia.

A 2008 World Series champion and the 2007 National League Most Valuable Player, Rollins is the franchise’s all-time leader in hits (2,306) and doubles (479) and was part of the core that captured five consecutive National League East championships from 2007-11. Rollins would go on to make three All-Star teams (2001-02, 2005) and win four Gold Glove Awards (2007-09, 2012) and a Silver Slugger Award (2007), all as a member of the Phillies over 15 seasons.

Originally selected by the Phillies in the second round of the June 1996 draft, Rollins was born in Alameda, Calif., and currently lives in Encino, Calif., with his wife Johari and their three daughters, Camryn, Logan and Brie.
