Specialty food and drink options to be available at DRL event at Chase Field this Sunday

September 3rd, 2019

PHOENIX – Arizona Diamondbacks Events & Entertainment and Levy Restaurants will offer a specialty food item, the DRL Loaded Droneless Wings, and drink option, The Golden Heat, which will be available exclusively at the Drone Racing League (DRL) event this Sunday at Chase Field.

The DRL Loaded Droneless Wings will consist of buffalo-spiced boneless wings on a bed of Chile con queso and topped with additional queso sauce, cheddar, bacon, sour cream and green onion. The DRL Loaded Droneless Wings will be available for $11 at Big Dawgs (at section 126) throughout the event.

The Golden Heat is a 16 oz. margarita featuring Exotico Blanco 100% Blue Agave Tequila prepared with various colors to represent each fan’s favorite DRL Pilot and will be served in a souvenir shaker for $17 at liquor portables at sections 127 and 129.

D-backs Legend Luis Gonzalez will be a special guest at the event and will take part in various activities alongside event hosts and fellow D-backs in-game hosts Mike Bauer and Vanessa Ramirez. The DRL event will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is expected to conclude around 10:30 p.m. Gates to Chase Field will open at 5:30 p.m. and fans are encouraged to arrive early to meet DRL pilots, race virtual drones on the DRL Simulator, and participate in a VR experience with Allianz.

The Drone Racing League (DRL), the world’s only professional drone racing circuit, will see drones lift off at the speed of a fastball while racing through Chase Field. This will be DRL’s first large-scale ticketed event in the U.S. as part of the 2019 DRL Allianz World Championship Season, which airs on NBC and Twitter on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. (MST).

Accelerating from 0 - 90 MPH in under a second, the 12 most elite pilots will fly custom-built DRL Racer4 drones in a fierce battle for first place. The brightly lit drones will zip past thousands of fans packed behind home-plate, darting through neon-colored gates in all sorts of shapes -- including pentagon, diamond, and even a watch-shaped Swatch Gate -- taking wide, sweeping turns and making sky-high dives directly over and around the cheering audience. DRL Pilots will race using a transmitter and pair of FPV (First Person View) goggles, which showcases a live video feed from a camera mounted on the drone, as the crowd experiences the immersive sensation of FPV flight through the same projected drone’s-eye footage on the jumbotrons.

During each minute-long heat, fans will bet on their favorite pilots for points on DRL’s new gamification app, DRL Drone Duels, available for free download on iOS and Android at the race.

DRL is the global, professional drone racing circuit for elite FPV (First Person View) pilots. Recognized internationally as the Sport of the Future, DRL combines world-class media and proprietary technology to create thrilling 3D drone racing content with mass appeal.
