BOSTON, MA- Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck marked the beginning of a partnership with The Home for Little Wanderers (The Home) with a visit to Harrington House, one of The Home’s six group homes providing supportive living environments and services to youth who have experienced childhood trauma.
Houck will visit The Home’s other group homes throughout the season and will host youth and staff from the organization at Red Sox games each month. Before today’s 1:35 p.m. Red Sox-Twins game, Houck will host 10 children from the program for a tour of Fenway Park and a meet-and-greet before his scheduled start.
“It’s important that kids in the foster system know there are people in the community that care about them,” said Houck. “I’m looking forward to meeting these amazing kids throughout the season and reminding them there are people in their corner rooting for them.”
Houck’s partnership with The Home builds on his “Pitch for Adoption” campaign supporting adoption and awareness. His personal connection to the cause is inspired by his adopted sister.
