Chicago — The Texas Rangers today announced the following roster moves prior to Friday’s series opener against the White Sox in Chicago:

• INF/OF Brad Miller activated from 10-day Injured List
• RHP Tyson Miller (#76) and RHP Jesús Tinoco (#63) added as replacement players from Round Rock (AAA)
• C/DH Mitch Garver and RHP Glenn Otto placed on COVID-19 Related Injured List
• INF Andy Ibáñez optioned to Round Rock (AAA)

Brad Miller has been on the 10-day injured list since May 30 with right hip impingement and today was the first day he was eligible to be activated. He has batted .228 with 7 home runs and 23 RBI in 41 games for the Rangers in 2022, his first season with the club. Miller will be seeking his first game action with Texas since May 29 at Oakland, when he was removed in the 5th inning with right hip tightness.

Tyson Miller, 26, will be seeking his first Major League action since 2020, when he logged 2 games/1 start for the Chicago Cubs in his only big league outings to date. The right-hander has spent the entire 2022 season with Round Rock, going 2-3 with a 5.02 ERA (21 ER/37.2 IP) and 50 strikeouts in 12 games/4 starts. Miller was acquired by the Rangers from the Cubs via waiver claim on June 4, 2021. The California native spent his first six professional seasons (2016-21) in the Cubs organization after being selected in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of California Baptist University.

Tinoco has gone 1-1 with a 2.42 ERA (6 ER/22.1 IP) and 6 saves in 17 relief outings for Round Rock this season. The right-hander has held minor league opponents to a .175 batting average (14-80) and just one home run in 2022. He will be seeking Major League action for a fourth straight season, as he has gone 0-3 with a 4.89 ERA over 31 career relief outings with Colorado (2019-21) and Miami (2020). Tinoco, who has been with the club on this road trip as a member of the taxi squad, was signed by Texas to a minor league contract on Dec. 1, 2021.

Garver has batted .206 with 7 home runs and 16 RBI in 39 games for Texas in 2022. He was also on the injured list from May 9-18 with a right forearm flexor muscle strain, which has limited him to designated hitter duties since his return.

Otto has gone 4-2 with a 4.24 ERA (19 ER/40.1 IP) in 8 starts for the Rangers this season, his second straight season to see Major League action. He had originally been scheduled to start tonight’s series opener in Chicago.

Ibáñez has batted .218 with one home run and 9 RBI over 40 games spanning two stints with Texas this season: Opening Day-June 4 and June 7-9. Ibáñez made an Opening Day roster this year for the first time in his career.
