ANAHEIM – The Angels announced the hiring of Torii Hunter as a Special Assistant to the General Manager. Hunter joins Kurt Suzuki, Eddie Guardado and Chris Carpenter as Special Assistants to the General Manager.

Hunter, 48, had previously worked for the Minnesota Twins as a Special Assistant, Baseball Operations since November 2016. The former outfielder was a five-time American League All-Star, won nine Gold Glove Awards and two Silver Slugger across 19 Major League seasons, including five with the Angels (2008-12). During his time with the Angels, Hunter won two Gold Glove Awards, was a two-time All-Star and won a Silver Slugger in 2009. He was also a member of the Angels 2008 & 2009 A.L. West Championship teams.

Guardado, 53, originally joined the Angels in 2023 as Special Assistant, Player Development. He previously worked on the Minnesota Twins coaching staff as Bullpen Coach for four seasons (2015-18). Known as “Everyday Eddie,” Guardado pitched in 908 games across 17 Major League seasons with the Twins, Mariners, Reds and Rangers. A two-time American League All-Star, Guardado ranks 24th all-time in games pitched and was inducted into the Twins Hall of Fame in 2013.

Carpenter, 48, is in his third season with the Angels, after joining the organization in 2022 as a Minor League Pitching Consultant. He previously worked as a Special Assistant to the General Manager in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. A veteran of 15 Major League seasons, Carpenter won the National League Cy Young Award in 2005 and was a three-time All-Star, in addition to being a member of two World Series Championship teams with the Cardinals in 2006 and 2011.

Suzuki, 40, is in his second season as a Special Assistant to the GM, after joining the front office prior to the 2023 season. During his 16 year playing career from 2007-22, he was an American League All-Star in 2014 and member of the 2019 Washington Nationals World Series Championship team. Suzuki finished his playing career with two seasons with the Angels in 2021-22. He played collegiately at Cal State Fullerton, where he won the College World Series in 2004.
